Jacob Patterson threw seven scoreless innings with four hits and a season-high eight strikeouts to lead the San Luis Obispo Blues to an 8-0 win over the Academy Barons in a summer collegiate baseball game Tuesday at the MLB Urban Youth Academy in Compton.

Harley Faye, Dustin Williams and Tanner Gardner each drove in a pair of runs for the Blues (21-8, 9-6 California Collegiate League), who recorded their sixth shutout of the season.

Corey Hassel and Nigel Ward each registered scoreless outings on the mound in relief.

Faye’s two-run single put San Luis Obispo ahead 4-0 in the second inning before Williams extended the lead to six when he drove in two with a triple in the third. Williams reached base four times, including three walks.
