Prep roundup: Nipomo golf squeaks by Morro Bay with two-shot win

It came down to the last group on Monday evening in Morro Bay.

In the end, the Nipomo High boys golf team did just enough to pull off a two-stroke win (226-224) over Morro Bay at the par-35 Morro Bay Country Club.

There was a three-way tie for medalist. Morro Bay’s Mac Dougherty, Morro Bay’s Rayce Francis and Nipomo’s Jett Rugg all shot a 7-over 42.

Morro Bay is now 4-1 in Los Padres League play and in fourth place.

The Pirates and Titans will each compete in the league tournament on Thursday in Nipomo.

BOYS TENNIS

Dos Pueblos 11, Arroyo Grande 7

The Eagles dropped a nonleague match at Dos Pueblos.

Andrew Acrangel 6-1, 6-2, 6-1, swept his sets at No. 1 singles for Arroyo Grande (15-3).

The Eagles are 9-0 in PAC 8 play and travel to San Luis Obispo on Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. match.
