The Cal Poly men’s tennis team rolled to a 6-1 win over Saint Mary’s on Sunday in a nonconference match at Cal Poly.
The Mustangs are 2-0 to start the season.
Ben Donovan, Naveen Beasley, Alex Damiens, Corey Pang and Garrett Auproux earned singles wins.
Pang and Auproux also earned doubles wins for the Mustangs.
Cal Poly wrestling loses to Stanford
The Cal Poly wrestling team (1-10) dropped a Pac-12 dual to Stanford (7-2) at Maples Pavilion, 22-13.
Cal Poly’s Colton Schilling pinned Jordan Bryan in just 38 seconds at 141 pounds.
Cal Poly’s J.T. Goodwin earned a major decision over Ryan Davies at 197 pounds, winning 16-5.
Nick Fiegener earned the Mustangs’ only other win.
Mustangs women open tennis season
Danè Joubert earned a singles win, and Hannah Stone and Zoe Oedekerk won in doubles for the Cal Poly women’s tennis team at the California Winter Invitational in Berkeley.
Joubert beat Fresno State’s Sofya Malysheva, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, while Stone and Oedekerk combined to outlast Danielle Flores and Kareena Manji of Saint Mary’s, 7-6 (2).
Mustangs diver reaches final in L.A.
Cal Poly’s Lauren Pierce placed 17th in the 1-meter finals at the Bruin Diving Invitational on Sunday at UCLA’s Spieker Aquatics Center.
Pierce, a freshman, scored 222.85 in the preliminaries, and 218.25 in the final.
Also, Brady Shutt was ninth in the 3-meter competition.
The meet concludes today.
