Summer Collegiate Baseball Roundup: SLO Blues overcome early deficit to beat Santa Maria

The San Luis Obispo Blues pushed aside a 3-1 deficit with a six-run seventh inning to win 8-4 over the Santa Maria Packers on Thursday night at SLO Stadium in a summer collegiate baseball game.

In the seventh inning, the Blues (24-11, 13-7 California Collegiate League) scored their six runs on four hits. Taylor Anderson produced a three-run double on his lone hit of the game, and Tanner Donnels came through with a two-run single to help give San Luis Obispo the 8-3 lead.

Tanner Witt went 2 for 5 with an RBI for the Blues, who also scored a run in the second and fifth innings. All but one of the San Luis Obispo starters scored.

Thomas Cortese picked up the win after he came in the fifth to pitch 2 2⁄3 scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Starter Adam Frank also struck out five but gave up three runs in his outing.
