Mission Prep's football team moved within one win of consideration for a CIF-Southern Section playoff berth with a dominating 21-7 home win Friday over Santa Maria.
Mission Prep quarterback Tyler Baty was 12-of-21 passing with 165 yards and three touchdowns, including two first-half touchdown passes to Joey Hall. Hall finished with 7 catches for 72 yards and the two scores for the Royals (7-2).
Mission Prep’s defense allowed just nine yards on the ground, and 79 of Santa Maria’s 147 passing yards came on a fourth-quarter hook-and-ladder play that put the Saints (1-7) on the Mission Prep 1-yard line and set up their only touchdown of the night.
