Blues finish sweep of Barons

The San Luis Obispo Blues completed a three-game sweep of the MLB Academy Barons with a 5-2 home win Sunday at SLO Stadium.

Cuesta College standout Cory Ginther allowed a run on five hits in four innings for the Blues (12-7, 11-5 California Collegiate League), who have won seven in a row.

Michael Sullivan had two hits and scored twice for San Luis Obispo while teammate A.J. Robinson added a hit and two runs.

Kennedy Winn got the win for the Blues, allowing a run on three hits in three innings while Sean Johnson picked up his fifth save.

Austin Kingsolver added a double, three RBI and a stolen base for San Luis Obispo.

The Blues are now tied for the league lead with the Santa Barbara Foresters and will host the Santa Maria Packers in a league game today at 6:35 p.m.

Santa Barbara Foresters 8, San Luis Obispo Rattlers 0The Rattlers lost to the league leading Foresters (15-5, 9-3) after they were held to just two hits.

Former San Luis Obispo High standout Davey Schultz had one hit while Cuesta’s Zach Steele had the other.

Kirk Fridich started the game for the Rattlers (8-13, 2-12 CCL), allowing seven runs, four earned, on four hits in 3 1⁄3 innings. He walked one and struck out one.

Trevor Elswick, Todd Simko and Marc Damon combined to pitch four innings of scoreless relief for the Rattlers.
