Guntersville, Ala. — On a day when 40 of the 93 Bassmaster Elite anglers caught between 20-3 pounds and 29-1 pounds, Arroyo Grande pro Jared Lintner found himself 10 pounds off the lead after day one at Lake Guntersville.

Lintner had his heaviest limit (19 pounds, 1 ounce) since leaving Clear Lake, the second test on the 8-event Elite schedule. This is the fifth stop on the schedule, and Lintner's fourth time on the Alabama lake. He has twice finished as a money winner.

The fifth-year pro is tied for 48th place. He needs to move up at least one place Friday in order to qualify for a check.

Californian Skeet Reese (Auburn), who is making a mockery of the Angler of the Year competition with a lead of 153 points halfway through the schedule, led the field Thursday with a 29-3 limit. Reese has a first, a second and two fifths in 2010.
