Huddleston, Va. — For the second tournament in a row, Arroyo Grande’s Jared Lintner made the first cut Friday at Smith Mountain Lake.
However, advancing to fish in the finals Sunday will require a significant bag weight improvement. The fifth-year pro had a 12-pound, 5-ounce limit Friday. His two-day total weight of 27-3 has him in 38th place, a position that assures him of a paycheck. Thirty of the 47 anglers who made the first cut had heavier Friday limits than Lintner.
To earn a berth in the finals for the second straight tournament, Lintner needs to be among the 12 leaders after Saturday’s competition. He trails the current occupant of 12th place by 4 1/2 pounds and is 9 1/2 pounds off the pace being set by South Carolinian Jason Williamson (36-11).
