Area Roundup: Brown Trafton to conduct throwing clinic

Arroyo Grande High and Cal Poly grad Stephanie Brown Trafton, the 2008 Olympic gold medalist in the women’s discus, will conduct a throwing clinic at Arroyo Grande High on Feb. 20.

The fundraiser, which will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will take place at 495 Valley Road in Arroyo Grande and costs $50. The fee includes free T-shirts, a goodie bag and lunch.

Brown Trafton will be giving hands-on instruction on the fundamentals of the shot put and discus, and will also discuss meet preparation.

People must register by Saturday to attend. After that, day-of signups take place at 8 a.m. Feb. 20.

San Luis Obispo softball team to hold clinic

The San Luis Obispo High softball team will hold a softball clinic for youth ages 7 to 14 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at San Luis Obispo High.

The event is free and open to the public.
