Bertoni stalled by darkness at PGA qualifying tournament

Former Paso Robles High and Cal Poly golfer Travis Bertoni was at 2-over par after nine holes when the fourth round of the final stage at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament was halted because of darkness Saturday.

Bertoni, who is 2-over for the tournament, is currently tied for 87th place. The top 25 plus ties will earn 2010 PGA Tour cards while the next number of players nearest to 50 plus ties will earn full status on the Nationwide Tour next year.

Troy Merritt and Jay Williamson hold a share of the lead at 15-under. The champion will win $50,000.

Bertoni is assured of at least a spot in selected Nationwide Tour events next season by finishing in a five-way tie for 19th place in the second stage of qualifying last month.
