Golf: Bertoni tied for 23rd at PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament

Former Paso Robles High and Cal Poly golfer Travis Bertoni is tied for 23rd place with 11 others following the first round Wednesday of the final stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament.

Bertoni shot a a par-72 at the Lakes Course at Bear Lakes Country Club.

Bertoni will play again today on the Links Course.

The low 25 scores and ties will earn PGA Tour cards for the 2010 season. The next number of players nearest 50 will receive full status on the Nationwide Tour. All remaining players will have conditional status on the Nationwide Tour in 2010.

Bertoni already has assured himself at least a spot in selected Nationwide Tour events next season by finishing in a five-way tie for 19th place in the second stage of qualifying last month at the TPC Craig Ranch course in McKinney, Texas.
