As our country is mourning the tragic events in Orlando, there are many other groups, locally and nationally, who are focused on healing and solidarity. One such group met Monday evening at Congregation Beth David, where about 100 people — Christians, Jews and Muslims — came together to learn about the Jewish holiday of Shavuot and celebrate Ramadan by breaking the fast together with a delicious meal.
This was part of an ongoing series, sponsored by People of Faith for Justice, with the aim of breaking down barriers of misunderstanding. The joy of coming together with old friends and making new friends ripples throughout the crowd at each gathering. The group welcomes people of all faiths or of no faith.
