I’m supporting Debbie Arnold for 5th District supervisor as the best candidate to represent the 5th District.
I’ve known Debbie for over 10 years and found her to be personable and conscientious towards her duties, whether she was working as an analyst for state Sen. Sam Blakeslee, an aide to former Supervisor Mike Ryan or in her current position as county supervisor for the 5th District.
Debbie is not pretentious; what you see is what you get. She is loyal to her constituents and committed to upholding the principles she espoused when first running for election. Sometimes this annoys the majority of the Board of Supervisors. But more than once Debbie has stood alone in defense of individual liberty, homeowners, small businesses, farmers and ranchers against an overreaching county or state bureaucracy.
During Debbie’s last campaign for supervisor, I wrote that while her opponent was a nice guy, the policies he advocated fit more closely with a city of San Luis Obispo governing philosophy than with North County political views. That evaluation continues to hold true against her current opponent.
