The Paso Robles Pioneer Day Committee would like to thank Phil Dirkx for his great article on Oct. 9 sharing information about Paso Robles Pioneer Day (“Paso Robles’ Pioneer Day has only gotten better in the past 85 years”). Phil helped explain the fun and great traditions that have preserved the history of our diverse past since 1931. The 85th parade was a huge success. We had about 150 entries this year. What a special moment seeing the children with their wide eyes and obvious delight. Some are experiencing a parade for the first time ever.
After the parade, at the Pioneer Museum, tractors, wagons and other examples of living the pioneer life were on display. There was something for everyone. This entire event is funded by volunteers, spending hours and hours of their time, and by generous donations from members of the community.
Thanks again, Phil, for your many years of great, thought-provoking articles.
