On Monday, the humpbacks were still thrilling folks along Port San Luis and Avila Beach.
Just running to the dog beach, I had to zigzag cars that were parked way into the road, bikes looking out for their own safe passage and people glued to their cameras in hopes of catching that occasional breach.
I love that so many folks can enjoy our remarkable coastline, and I hope that Avila can always accommodate those coming from outside our area on holiday.
The reminder for me was “Yikes!” — how can this community ever withstand mega development projects and still keep its charm and appeal to those who simply want to enjoy a day at the beach?
