On June 16, the San Luis Obispo City Council voted 4-1 to increase everyone’s water bill.
The “reason” given was that, because San Luis Obispo residents have done well at water conservation and using less water, we must be penalized by paying more so the water department can get enough revenue to operate.
The logic of this is right from “Alice in Wonderland.” Normally, if consumption of something goes down, prices also go down.
Not for public utilities, I guess. This will hit regular people very hard. The rich won’t care. But it’s happening.

One question: Will any of the new money be used to increase water department executive salaries, benefits, bonuses, expense accounts and so on?
If so, it’s wrong, and those responsible should be thrown out of office.
We must all watch very carefully.
