I read the article in The Tribune about the lack of parks and recreation in San Luis Obispo County (“Wanted: More places to play,” June 9). I question why the parks in our county are not being optimized for multipurpose use.
It seems that our county has plenty of land to use for recreation, and I don’t fully understand why there is not some type of way to take advantage of this land.
I think the parks we have should incorporate some type of revenue-producing entity. That revenue would in turn produce jobs and facility operations.
I have ideas but don’t know the inner workings of how ideas become plans and reality. I would like our county to have some of the recreational parks that I drive hours elsewhere to enjoy.

The parks need our help if we want our community to enjoy and take pride in them.
