Your recent editorial, “COLAB should spread its wings” (“Bouquets and Brickbats,” June 5) certainly left me scratching my head.
In it, you strongly recommend that this ultraconservative, north Santa Barbara County-based lobbying outfit step up its lobbying efforts with our county Board of Supervisors. Specifically, you urge COLAB to try harder to lobby all our supervisors, not just the two radically conservative ones.
Just what we need. More backroom maneuvering and pressure politics. How about urging open government, with decisions arrived at after public hearings?
Ironically, The Tribune followed up this gem with an editorial urging more transparency in local government.
