As the vice president of a local business/investment firm, I could not be more enthusiastic in my support of the Central Coast Heritage Protection Act, recently introduced in Congress by Sen. Boxer and Rep. Capps.
This act promotes property values and a vital economy through protecting the character and quality of life in SLO County, while encouraging outsiders to visit, explore and spend their tourism dollars here.
Our efforts to ensure our community’s continued beauty and vitality is an investment in our economic future. As our Mayor Jan Howell Marx said, “Having nearby wilderness makes our community a sought-after destination for visitors and tourists, directly contributing to local businesses and jobs.”
The environmental benefits of the act are even better. The proposed protected areas contain hundreds of plant and animal species of our ecoregion.
Many of these species are in critical decline, and our support of the act may be the difference for their continued existence. It’s a great benefit for people and wildlife. Please join the effort!
