Why do I do everything I can think of to conserve water, only to read an article in the April 29 paper that two — not one — but two monster hotels, complete with swimming pool, jacuzzi and spa, were unanimously approved by the Planning Commission to be built in Pismo Beach?
This article appeared next to one that informs us water wasters in California could face $10,000 fines!
What am I missing here? Is the cost of the fines figured into the cost of building? Is $10,000 peanuts to big developers? Has someone discovered how to change cold cash into lifesustaining water?
Why didn’t I get a vote? It is my water also. Why squabble over building design, when the charm of small, quiet, quaint Central Coast towns is lost as soon as you build hunking hotels? And last, but not least, what about the people who are being displaced?
And now for a word of praise for Hayashi farms for adjusting sprinklers so my dirty, unwashed car does not get splashed when I drive on Valley Road. Thank you.
