Jarring presence

Although Earth Day isn’t actually until Wednesday, celebrations were taking place all over the country this past weekend, including here in SLO County.

On Sunday, my daughter, grandsons and I went to El Chorro Regional Park to enjoy the Earth Day festivities. We thought there would probably be lots of good information on ways to care for our planet and protect our world.

Although there could have been more information, I was astonished to see, two booths away from the bee area, was the Cal Poly booth — where students there were potting plants using soil from a big bag of Miracle-Gro, linked to Monsanto.
