As a subscriber, I was recently reading The Tribune when I came upon the obituary of one Larry Ramey Sr.
I had the opportunity to meet Larry one summer morning in 2006 at Morro Bay State Park. Seems a baby owl had flown from the nest high above, and all the branching smaller trees had been cut down. The owl was in trouble!
I called Pacific Wildlife Care, and they sent me a hero named Larry Ramey. He climbed the 125-foot Eucalyptus and placed that baby back in her nest with mama owl, with a large crowd of people watching from close by. He climbed back down, and we all burst into applause for this great kindness. Larry Ramey Sr. had a heart as big as a redwood tree.
