What happened during the “St. Fratty’s Day” party left me, and I’m sure many other members of the community, scratching their heads and wondering what can be done to minimize recurrence of this type of near-catastrophic event.
As a career risk manager, the corrective action seems clear: Be proactive and pre-emptive. Form a risk-management task force with representation and buy-in from all the stakeholders (neighbors, student leaders, university leaders, law enforcement). List the events (such as St. Patrick’s Day) with inherent risks and exposures, and jointly map out worst-case scenarios and develop and implement plans to minimize problems.
