It brings a smile to my face every time I read a letter or an op-ed in The Tribune in which the writer whines about Fox News and its purported terrible effects on our great nation and its people.
The reason I smile is because I think to myself, “So, how does it feel to finally have the news reported in a manner in which you disagree?”
I’ve been an avid consumer of news for about 50 years and can never forget the decades during which all television news — be it NBC, CBS, ABC or CNN — was delivered from what I considered a left-leaning perspective. And then, finally, Fox News came along in the 1990s to offer a right-leaning perspective. That was, and remains, very refreshing.
And my happy attitude toward all of this was recently enhanced when The Washington Post reported on a Quinnipiac University poll that asked the question, “Whose news coverage do you trust the most?” Respondents replied as follows:
ABC News: 8 percent.
CBS News: 10 percent.
CNN: 22 percent
FOX News: 29 percent.
MSNBC: 7 percent.
NBC News: 10 percent.
No opinion: 14 percent.
Apparently I’m not the only person smiling these days.
