When the GOP leads

The March 2 issue of The Tribune really put my mind at ease. I have been concerned with the dysfunctional Congress over the past several years, but now that the Republicans have taken control of both the House and the Senate, it’s comforting to see that they are able to fulfill their promise to make it functional once again.

I must admit that funding the Department of Homeland Security for a week at a time is a novel approach to improving the government. Of course, it allows them to devote their productive time to issues such as the 56th bill to repeal Obamacare and to ignore unimportant matters, such as Medicare fees, highway funding, children’s health, the Patriot Act, etc.

You can imagine my peace of mind when you reported that they are also making gains in California (“GOP slowly making gains in California,” March 2, Perspective) and may soon bring their vision of government to our state, as well. I can hardly wait to see what they do when they control the California State Assembly and Senate. Go, GOP!
