It is really nice that we are getting a new, wider bridge in the near future at the Los Osos Valley Road-Highway 101 overpass.
What is not nearly so nice is the motorists who zoom along in the right lane of eastbound Los Osos Valley Road — the lane that is right-turn only to the freeway — then jackrabbit into the through-traffic lane. I see this daily on LOVR from Calle Joaquin to the freeway.
Do our local authorities truly not know about this? It is so dangerous, and contributes to the traffic jams going over the bridge. I’m not just complaining — I have a solution! If CalTrans or the city installed orange traffic cones along the white lines of the road as it approaches the bridge, it would greatly reduce the opportunities for cars to swerve into the through-traffic lane.
