Robert Olson (Nov. 11) thinks that a Muslim in our community should speak out and decry the actions of al-Qaida and the Islamic State. The implication is that Muslims are all one community and the actions of one part should be deplored by the majority.
What about all the Christians who remain silent and don’t apologize for various actions of the white supremacist movement, which is so Christian? How many Christians in our community apologized publicly when we learned about gun sights with Bible verses? Why don’t I remember someone Jewish standing up and deploring the actions of Benjamin Netanyahu? Of course there are many who do, but you don’t read about them in the newspaper.
The foundation of racism is categorization. Let’s just be brothers and sisters, not Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, etc.
