I don’t understand why Joe Tarica claims he doesn’t understand voters. In his column “Attempting to make sense of the election,” Tarica couldn’t come to grips with all the reasons voters found to reject the failed policies and inept leadership of the White House and U.S. Senate.
Every talking head on television — even the liberal commentators — fully understood why voters turned out to vote against President Barack Obama and many Democrats nationwide. Need I suggest Tarica could even learn something from “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart? Even Obama-loving comedians get it.
Voters are not Chicken Littles, as Tarica suggests, simply voting on the fear du jour. Voters want leaders who know how to handle problems. President Obama has demonstrated again and again that he cannot handle the problems that demand his attention. He fumbles every time the ball is snapped. Benghazi, Obamacare, Ebola, the IRS — I could go on.
While Tarica says voters are wracked by “phantom fears,” I would suggest Tarica is simply deluded by the phantom accomplishments of a disappointing president. I challenge Tarica to engage in a listening tour to deepen his understanding of Tribune readers.
