The people have spoken — conservatives win (nationally anyway)! We got what the majority wanted; there are no mistakes. If Republicans acknowledged climate change, their majority would scare me less.
Who knows what will happen in two years. If the national trend stays conservative, the planet will suffer; we don’t need more fossil fuel coming out of the ground. When the weather gets worse, our options are fewer.
Politicians cannot deny their masters; only look the other way while the planet heats up. The latest Republican denial is, “I am not a scientist.” True, but they are smart enough to get elected.
Both sides of the aisle need a wake-up call, until we get off fossil fuel for energy production atmospheric CO2 will continue to rise. Denial is never the answer.
It is time environmental groups realize saving Diablo Canyon Power Plant and advocating for more clean-green nuclear facilities is our only hope for minimizing the impending disaster. We need to put the fossil fuel industry out of business; only nuclear can do that.
If Diablo closes, California will keep the lights on at night, but the power will not be coming from the sun.
