A harbor advocate

The San Luis Harbor Commission faces the ongoing challenge of keeping its facilities in topnotch condition. That includes the piers, the harbor itself and the breakwater. To serve the residents of San Luis Obispo County, the commission will need the energy and commitment of people who understand every aspect of the operation and the community it serves. That is why I am voting for Mary Matakovich for harbor commissioner.

Mary served San Luis Obispo County as a professional educator for many years. A tireless volunteer, she is currently a board member and liaison to the Port for the Avila Valley Advisory Committee; a board member for the Avila Beach Civic Association; a board member of the Friends of Port San Luis; president of the Martin Luther King Scholarship committee; secretary of the San Luis Yacht Club; and vice president of the Prado Day Center board, which helps the homeless work toward self-sufficiency.

Mary feels strongly about making a cohesive connection throughout the community to promote the well-being of all citizens. Please join me in backing Mary. It is a vote that will support the public’s access to the harbor and the sustainability of the Port San Luis Harbor District.
