We were driving by a Lynn Compton billboard a few days ago and noticed this message under her name: “Don’t let them change Prop. 13.” We wondered who “they” were, but assumed it was her opponent, Caren Ray.
Recently, we received a campaign call from Caren Ray, and she stated that as a homeowner she has never been opposed to Proposition 13 and never will be. Any changes to Proposition 13 would have to be passed by a two-thirds majority in both houses of the state legislature.
Sadly, some people believe anything as fact — whether it is on a campaign billboard or the Internet — without doing any research that might prove the contrary.
If Lynn Compton thinks that the county Board of Supervisors can change Proposition 13, how much does she know about legislating?
Our vote is going to someone who does not try to cloud the issues, is truthful, and does her homework to make decisions that will benefit all of her constituents. That person is Caren Ray.
