Some time ago, at a goal-setting meeting for the city, all the City Council members of Pismo Beach were asked why they were so intent on developing Price Canyon. While each had their own reasons, the response by Mary Ann Reiss was particularly noteworthy. The stated reason for her interest was “we have an unusual opportunity to work with quality developers.”
Well, now we know who those developers are and also their plans; his name is Steven Hester and the plan was “Spanish Springs” — hotel, golf course, hundreds of homes, traffic, air pollution, use of potable water belonging to Pismo Beach to enhance the development, etc.
Is this the type of mature and experienced judgment we should expect from someone who served 18 years on the City Council?
We think it is time for a change. Vote for Marcia Guthrie and Sheila Blake on Nov. 4 if you agree. Also vote “Yes” on Measure H-14.
