Here we go again with another poop controversy! We have lived in our Cabrillo Estates home for 20 years. The previously mentioned horses pass by our house several times a day. My husband built two redwood boxes that sit on the edge of our property. The equestrians faithfully clean up after their horses, filling the boxes with poop, which is then turned into wonderful compost for our garden.
Nina Grossman (“Poop responsibly,” July 17) is correct in that dog poop should never be added to this compost but needs to be bagged then disposed of properly in the trash.
Composting horse poop is our way of turning lemons into lemonade.
