Laws protect all

Personally, I feel the law fails everybody whenever it is applied in a rigid manner. Obviously, this gentleman, John Sears, has chosen a peaceful, if unconventional lifestyle, takes little and intends no harm.

Since we all share this bountiful planet and the resources on it, Sears should not be made to suffer needlessly by the application of laws meant to protect private property or public safety.

Laws are meant to protect everybody, so their application should include equal weight by examination of the circumstances from all perspectives, including that of a man who travels with two mules.

In my opinion, he should be welcomed to set up camp on the courthouse lawn.
