Letters to the Editor

Shouldn’t they know?

So our righteous congressional representatives have again become outraged — this time at alleged mismanagement of the Department of Veterans Affairs and VA hospitals. They beat their chests (on the flag-pin side, of course) and promise a quick, thorough investigation.

We need to ask each one of them what they do during their long visits to their home states besides all of the events to raise ever more campaign dollars. Do they bother to talk to veterans individually? Do they visit the VA hospitals in their state to observe and talk to the staff there? Do they respond to the many emails and letters from veterans with personal contact rather than the form letters sent out by their staff? How could they be so surprised and shocked by the revelations of noncare and falsified numbers? Any investigation should definitely include these questions right along with their accusations.
