I give my strongest recommendation to Tim Covello for San Luis Obispo County district attorney.
Not only do I think this man to have much more praiseworthy experience as a prosecutor and administrator in the DA’s office than his opponents, but also his conduct conforms to the highest ethical standards of a public servant.
One of his opponents (Dan Dow) has admitted to taking a large campaign contribution from the defense attorney of a man he was prosecuting. If you don’t believe this to be unethical, then you must surely admit that it has the “appearance” of unethical behavior. And contrary to what Mr. Dow has said, it is never “mud-slinging” to inform the public about the behavior of a political opponent so they can make up their own minds about how to evaluate this behavior. That is what democracy is all about.
