When I was a teenager in Salinas, my girlfriend was returning home after driving her mom to work at the hospital early one morning. She was in her pajamas and had rollers in her hair. A policeman put on his lights and pulled her over. All she could think was, “Oh no, I’m getting a ticket, and I’m in pajamas.” Much to her surprise, she was getting a good-driving certificate. We laughed about this for years.
