Letters to the Editor

The big picture

In response to Joe Whitaker’s letter Nov. 11:

The statistics he mentions are only the tip of the iceberg. The lobbies of the multinational corporations, the “personhood” of corporations and the charters which make the executives place profit at the top of the priority list, all combine to make multinational corporations the greatest enemy of the people, not only in the United States, but all over the planet.

Until the voting electorate realizes how duped we are and demands reform of campaign finance, the 99.9 percent of us who watch our earning potential transfer to the .01 percent (and even more the.001 percent) will continue to watch the environment degrade, living standards fall and our nation look more and more like a third-world country.

We need to elect to political office people who can see the big picture and realize the effects of decisions made today on generations to come.
