The staff and 800-plus members of the SLO County Bicycle Coalition would like to thank the SLO City Council for unanimously approving the Bike Plan.
Our efforts are motivated directly by the wants and needs of residents who believe safe routes for biking and walking are essential to our transportation network, quality of life, attract business and succeed economically.
The projects in the plan will result in: An incredible web of bike boulevards, addressing concerns of unsafe and speeding drivers for parents who want to bike their kids to school; a network of paths, away from traffic, drawing in tourists to experience our wonderful small-town character; improved intersections for the growing number of employees working past Tank Farm Road and Broad Street to feel comfortable riding a bike to work; and 20 percent of vehicle trips in town being made by bike in 2020.
Constituents are ecstatic expanding our bikeway network is a major city goal and even more impressed by increased investment in funding bikeway improvements. Rest assured these constituents, the Bicycle Coalition and many more are committed to being allies in this effort. Once again, thank you for your approval of the Bike Plan.
