Perhaps the writer of the June 24 letter should fact-check assertions made against big bad oil and fracking. About 3 million gallons of water are used per well in the process, not billions of gallons per well, as stated.
If this still sounds like a lot of water, when measured against agricultural use all over the country, the amount of water used in fracking comes to about 1 percent vs agriculture in the same area.
So, the writer inadvertently solved our water shortage problem. Replace all the vineyards with oil wells. We can have the revenue and the water at the same time.
