As the time for election of a City Council representative rapidly approaches, I want to weigh in in support of John Spatafore. I’ve had the rare opportunity not just to work with John in a public setting, but to also get to understand his character and the motivation behind his thinking. I have complete confidence in both.
Good governance in our city requires intelligence, perseverance and integrity. John’s work on the school board, in the Youth Sports Association, on the board of the Chamber of Commerce and in addressing the challenges of homelessness in our community speak to these fundamental character traits.
Public service is sometimes characterized by rancor and divisiveness. John brings a history of consensus building and civility to his service — qualities we certainly want to encourage in these times. For me, a vote for John Spatafore is that encouragement. I hope others will join me in casting that vote.
