With the passing of the first female Prime Minister of England, Margaret (Baroness, Iron Lady, Maggie, Ronnie’s Churchill) Thatcher, we are continuously reminded that she was a “grocer’s daughter.”
No one seems to know that she was a graduate of Oxford University with a degree of Bachelor of Science in chemistry and, along with a group of scientists, developed the method for production of soft ice cream, which was and is extremely popular all over the world. As Maureen Dowd said, “She handled the global boys club deftly — as little boys when they needed it or as swains when she needed it.”
