Opponents of gun control from both parties said that they made their decisions based on “logic,” and that passions had no place in the making of momentous policy.
“Criminals do not submit to background checks now,” said Sen. Charles E. Grassley, RIowa. “They will not submit to expanded background checks.”
So based on this so-called “logic,” we can expect future Republican senators to “help us along” when making the following decisions:
“Inebriated drivers often drive with suspended licenses,” said Sen. blah, blah, blah. “Therefore we shouldn’t require driver’s licenses from the good drivers.”
“The Chinese will continue to export us tainted food. Therefore the Food and Drug Administration should stop regulating the food we eat.”
“There will always be rogue corporations who will place volatile fertilizer plants in close proximity to residential neighborhoods. Therefore, let’s dispense with zoning laws.”
