Trapped by marathon

Regarding the reference to “several” roads being closed for the San Luis Obispo Marathon (Bouquets and Brickbats, April 5):

Several roads! More like several dozen roads were closed. As with last year’s marathon, we were trapped in our house. My family had to cancel plans for the day. Plus, I was not allowed to drive out of the neighborhood, making me several hours late for work.

As with last year’s marathon, after the runners passed, there was absolutely no one around to take down the barricades, which should have happened immediately.

The best part of this day was being woken up by a woman screaming into a public address system at 5:50 in the morning, followed by nonstop yelling and screaming. Plus, someone was banging on a drum.

There is nothing better than lying in bed early Sunday morning listening to this nonsense, which I had to endure up until the time I was allowed to leave my street.
