The special election for San Luis Obispo City Council will happen this spring, which doesn’t allow much time for voters to get to know the candidates. Fortunately, we have good contenders who are already well known to many voters.
Of the top contenders, I recommend Carlyn Christianson. She is uniquely qualified to help with the upcoming tasks associated with the land use and circulation element of our city’s general plan. The planning commissions of both the city and county have been her training ground for the past 11 years. She practiced good planning and knows the fundamentals of planning neighborhoods that can make the difference in traffic flow, allowing for different types of needed housing, and creation of vibrant business zones.
This work is perhaps the most important task facing our City Council, and Carlyn will bring experience and balance to that task. She is also no slouch in managing a budget because of her background in business and the nonprofit sector. For these reasons, I urge undecided voters to learn more about her and support Carlyn for City Council.
