Sheriff Ian Parkinson’s letter to the vice president shows that our sheriff takes his oath to defend Constitution of the United States seriously.
The gunfire in Newtown had hardly subsided when countless federal and state politicians, led by our own Sen. Dianne Feinstein, started a stampede to find a quick fix by curtailing the Second Amendment rights of millions of law-abiding citizens.
Sheriff Parkinson, on the other hand, has stood up for our constitutional rights and supported a rational approach that focuses on the fact that the perpetrators of mass shootings are invariably people with severe psychological problems. We would be better served if our legislators were less eager to grab headlines for themselves and instead more interested in actually doing something that works.
