Backyard fruit

I am a fifth-grader at Bishop’s Peak/Teach Elementary and for my class Community Action Project, I worked with GleanSLO (to benefit the Food Bank) to collect excess citrus from our school community.

I would like to remind everyone that many people in San Luis Obispo are hungry. I walked around town and noticed many full trees and that a lot of fruit was going to waste.

I want you to be aware that there are still plenty of backyard fruit trees in SLO, and we should find a way to have the fruit distributed to those in need so that families in San Luis Obispo County will have healthful and nutritious food.
