On Feb. 12, the Atascadero City Council voted unanimously to advance $30,000 in funds from expected developer impact fees to the Atascadero Library project. With these funds and the support of hundreds of generous donors, construction is expected to begin next month.
Over the past four years, despite an economic recession, more than $1 million has been donated.
We appreciate the City Council’s support and the contributions from hundreds of generous individuals, community groups and local businesses. Donations of $1,000 or more will be recognized on the donor tree that will be visible from the library’s entrance. Space is available for new donors’ names as fundraising continues for furnishings and equipment.
For the next three weeks, the dancers who are competing at “Atascadero: Dancing with Our Stars” on March 9 and 10 are assisting the fundraising effort. For every $5 they receive for Friends of the Library through March 8, they receive one vote. Supporters can vote online at http://www.atascaderofriendsofthelibrary.org or at the library. Matinee tickets for the March 10 performance are available at the library.
