I’ve known Bill Thoma for more than 40 years as decent, honest, hardworking and generous. Now he has been castigated for taking a stand on a controversial issue. Furthermore, there is special concern because he encouraged people to participate in an open democratic process — rather than leave everything to committees. A committee report is only one of the inputs that should be considered in proper government decision-making.
Outrage by elected officials at citizen participation is outrageous in itself.
