Here’s food for thought about two items in the news lately that have a direct impact on most of us.
First, at the tail end of soaring gas prices, which the oil industry blamed on the “California blend” and production facilities being temporarily shut down, we then are informed by McClatchy that in fact the facilities were still producing.
Now reports indicate the drug industry is unable to match production to demand. Does that sound like the prelude to price increases for the medicines so many of us depend on? How about the insurance premium increases to cover those drug costs?
As free market enterprise runs freely, I am reminded how much we are at their mercy and feel as though we are sheep, sheared and sheared over and over again.
